A message from ex-Chairman DOJ Davies:

Many months ago in a moment of madness I signed up to cycle from London to Paris in aid of a charity of my choice. I chose St Luke's Hospice in Harrow.

The event takes place in September this year and I am now faced with two pretty big tasks before then, never mind the cycle itself. The first is to get myself fit enough to ride the 450km (about 320 miles in old money), it is not a relay,and for an old codger that wont be easy. I have started the training and am making good progress, the odd crash here and there apart. The second task is to raise sponsorship money and that is where I will need your help to reach my target of £1,100.00.

There are several ways you can sponsor me though it would help me enormously if you would use a webpage I have set up through a site called Justgiving.

It is simple - you can visit my page (worth it just to see the very bad photo of me in my lycra cycling gear) and pledge your sponsorship online using a debit or credit card. It will be a real encouragement to me to see the sponsorship grow.

All players are reminded of the club's recruitment drive this summer to bolster SNOBs' playing membership. All members are reminded of the club's Cashback Scheme where members can earn £75 for every successful referral - follow the link for more details.

The club has also produced a flyer to advertise the club - members are encouraged to print some of these off and to stick them up at locations that might allow the club to recruit player. A copy of the flyer can be downloaded here: 2007/08 Recruitment Flyer.

Please be pro-active in recruitment, and take personal responsibility for bringing down at least one new member. Greater playing depth will improve the quality and enjoyment of training sessions, improve the playing standards of both XVs and improve the social aspect of the club.

A new Fitness Zone section has been added to the website to give members training advice on areas such as strength, speed and agility. The club is going to place a great honus on fitness levels for the 2007/08 season, and it is an area where we can improve dramatically. Please take responsibility for your fitness levels, and use this section of the website for guidance if you need assistance.
