 29/10/08 - EGM - Change of Name - Ickenham RFC  |
At the Emergency General Meeting held on Thursday 30th October 2008 it was agreed that St Nicholas Old Boys RFC will be re-named Ickenham RFC, effective from 1st May 2009.
Our teams will have the following names:
1st XV – The Saints
2nd XV – The Mitres
Vet’s XV – The SNOBs
Many thanks to all those who attended the meeting, and to those who voted by proxy.

An Emergency General Meeting will be held in the clubhouse at 19:30 on Wednesday 29th October 2008 to discuss the proposal the committee have to re- name St Nicholas Old Boys RFC to a name with direct links to our local community e.g. Ickenham RFC.
Members are politely reminded that only those who have paid their 2008/09 subscriptions will be eligible to vote on the motion.

26/10/08 - Movember

The club raised a fantastic £1,100 in support of the Paul Strickland Scanner Centre this Saturday – the chosen charity of our ex-chairman Richard Bird (MBE)’s family, who sadly passed away earlier this year. Many thanks to all of you for your generous donations.
To allow us to raise some additional fundage for this very worthwhile cause the club are encouraging all its members to support “Movember”– essentially growing and maintaining a moustache for the month of November in support of the Paul Strickland Scanner Centre. Rules for Movember can be found in the Movember Rules document.
Since we are raising money for a very worthy cause so I would like to encourage you all to participate, however ridiculous you might think you will look – we will all be in the same boat. Remember, it is not about who gets the best moustache – it is about participating. So let’s have no excuses, and all get involved! Please don’t forget that the purpose of Movember is to raise money for Charity – we have our team website set up for on-line donations at:

Each of us should aim to raise as much as we can through sponsorship – so please encourage friends, family and random acquaintances to support the cause. If you would rather support this cause by cheque please send a cheque payable to ‘SNOBs RFC’ to the following address:

With both the 1st XV and the Mitres XV playing consecutive home league games on 25th October 2008, the club will take team photos and squad photos for the 2008/09 season.

25/10/08 - Richard Bird (MBE) Vice President's Day
|
The first Vice-President’s day of the season will be held in tribute to Richard Bird (MBE), with all proceeds going towards the Paul Strickland Scanner, the chosen charity of Richard’s family.
The day will begin at 12:00 in the clubhouse with a complimentary wine and buffet lunch. Guests will then be invited to support the 1st XV home league fixture against top-of-the table Hackney RFC and the Mitres XV home league game against Bank of England III, before returning to the clubhouse for a presentation awards ceremony, and drinking long into the night!
The club are trying to get as many old players and associates back to the club as possible. Can all ex-players and associates please make every effort to spread word of this events to any old members they are still in contact with to ensure a great turnout at this event.

11/10/08 - Player's Social Event
|
The first Player's social will be held on Saturday 11th October 2008. The Mitres XV have a home league fixture, while the 1st XV are just down the road at Old Priorians RFC.
The theme of the social will be "Hats and Vessels" - all socialites must bring a hat of some description for the evening - points will be awarded for originality, and must also bring a 'vessel' to drink from - again points will be awarded for imagination - but drinking from pint glasses will not be allowed!
After a brief introductory & awards evening at the club will will then move as a club to perform a bar crawl around Uxbridge. Please make sure you are available to attend - it promises to be a great night!

The club’s Fantasy League competition is back for the 2008/09 season. There are some great prizes to be won, in addition to the kudos that comes with proving you know more about the game than anyone else.
